O ensaio foi conduzido no campo experimental da UEPAE Porto Velho, da EMBRAPA, durante o periodo de marco/1987 a novembro/1988. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados com tres repeticoes. Os tratamentos consistiram de duas cultivares de capim-elefante (Cameroon e Ana) e tres frequencias de corte (28, 42 e 56 dias). As parcelas mediam 4,0 x 4,0 m tendo uma area util de 4,0 m2. Resultados permitiram concluir que o aumento do intervalo entre corte, em ambas as cvs. de capim-elefante implicou em maiores rendimentos de MS e PB, contudo, provocou decrescimos significativos nos teores de PB. En México, la alfalfa es la leguminosa más utilizada en la alimentación del ganado lechero, debido a su alta cantidad y calidad de forraje obtenido por superficie. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar el efecto de la frecuencia de corte en la dinámica de crecimiento, rendimiento y calidad de la alfalfa. El estudio se realizó de agosto de 2006 a agosto de 2007 en el Colegio de Postgraduados con alfalfa Variedad “San Miguelito”. The aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of cutting frequency, harvest season and nitrogen fertilization on yield and floristic composition of the herbage harvested from a mountain meadow. The meadow was divided into 22 plots, each receiving a different N P K fertilization treatment. The study lasted seven years, and during the first three years (1985-1987) each plot was harvested twice per year (June and September) according to a traditional harvest system, whereas in the years 1989-1991 each plot was harvested three times per year (spring, summer and autumn) following a more intensive harvest system. There is little information known about the response of cup-plant (Silphiumperfoliatum L.), a perennial forage crop introduced to Chile, to differing cultivation practices. A series of studies was conducted to evaluate the adaptation and productivity of cup-plant across a range of plant densities (104,000 - 208,000 plants ha-1), cutting stages (early vegetative to seed formation), and different levels of N (0 - 400 kg N ha-1) and P (0 - 400 kg P2O5 ha-1) fertilization.
